During this time, style tribes also emerged into society. Following this trend, were the infamous hippies. The hippies were also another reason for the “natural look” (Welters, 2008). This subgroup rejected the use of artificial products and plastic. Again, they preferred to stick with nature and embraced “natural” which lead into their lifestyle. Hippies were also known for their support for human rights and equality. They supported Blacks, American Indians, university students and were anti-war. The Hippies were among the first youth generations that were known for choosing against mainstream and being different from their parents’ generations. They followed their own trends and followed their beliefs.
One fashion trend they were known for were jeans. During this time, jeans represents the young adults’ rebellious lifestyle. They wore them to symbolize their individualistic beliefs.
